Inside Trade |The Famous of Them All – George Soros

We often encounter his name on the news and articles but did you ever wonder who he is? Well to give you a brief background, George Soros was just regarded as the “the man who broke the bank of England”

Born on the 12th of August 1930 in Budapest, Hungary, Soros experienced an early life full of struggle. He was just 13 years old when the Nazi occupied Hungary during the second  World War and was present to witness and survive the Battle of Budapest in 1945.

2 years after, he then migrated to England where he got his degree on the London School of Economics in 1952. He started his career immediately after he graduated and worked in an entry-level position at Singer & Friedlander. He industriously worked on his career ladder until the foundation of Soros Fund Management in 1970. In 1973, the Quantum fund was established in partnership with Jim Rogers.

The Quantum Fund plundered a huge amount throughout its existence. But the most famous of it was with the British pound sterling speculation in 1992. The event not only stigmatized Soros as “the man who broke the Bank of England,” but also gained an astonishing net profit of 2 billion USD in just a month's time.

At present, the gaze of the investor, philosopher, and philanthropist is upon the euro crisis. Giving out advice on countries in every step of the way.
